After college, I journeyed to Utah in search of high-altitude adventures. As I acclimated to the dropping temperatures, I noticed a void - a longing for the familiar tastes of my hometown in Auburn, AL. Southern comfort food provides unmatched warmth and hospitality. An idea struck me: Why not bring a taste of the South to my new mountain home? Quality, fresh food finds appreciation year-round, especially in a casual, family-friendly location.
Good thing I gained some expertise at Jim Bob’s Chicken Fingers, a chicken joint that helped me earn some pocket change during those college years. I mastered the best cooking techniques from their famous family recipes and added my own flavors and twists. This synergy resulted in something incredible: Mr. Charlie’s menu. In City Weekly’s 2019 Best of Utah poll, locals agreed. They awarded Mr. Charlie's “Utah’s Best New Chicken” and “Best New Restaurant. Not bad for being open for less than a year!
